Oman and Turkiye Discuss Economic Cooperation and Trade Initiatives


Muscat: Omani Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion Qais bin Mohammed Al Yousef engaged in economic discussions with Turkish Minister of Commerce Omer Bolat and Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacir, who are currently visiting Muscat.



According to Qatar News Agency, the dialogue focused on enhancing trade exchange between Oman and Turkiye, activating joint economic channels, and exploring the possibility of establishing a direct shipping line between the ports of the two nations. The discussions also covered potential industrial cooperation in sectors such as mining, renewable energy, electric vehicles, and investment.



The officials also addressed advancing negotiations on a free trade agreement between the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries and Turkiye. This agreement aims to remove non-tariff barriers and facilitate the movement of goods, services, and investments between the involved parties.



The talks were held in conjunction with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s current visit to the Sultanate of Oman.
