Palestinian PM and EU Representative Engage in Talks on Gaza Developments

Doha: Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa on Sunday engaged in discussions with the European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, Kaja Kallas, regarding the latest political developments and the current situation in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including Jerusalem.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Palestinian Prime Minister provided Kallas with insights into the escalating tensions in the West Bank, especially focusing on the increasing attacks by colonists and acts of violence against Palestinians. He emphasized the necessity for heightened international pressure on Israel to release the withheld Palestinian tax revenues.

Mustafa highlighted the urgency for the international community to press Israel to open crossings with the Gaza Strip to facilitate the entry of aid convoys, reconstruction supplies, and materials for early recovery. This call comes amidst worsening humanitarian conditions and increased suffering among the residents of the Strip.

The discussions between Mustafa and Kallas also covered ways to strengthen bilateral relations between the European Union and Palestine, aiming to broaden areas of economic, trade, and political cooperation. They noted that enhancing the partnership with the EU could significantly support the Palestinian economy and bolster the capacity of national institutions.

Kallas reiterated the European Union's ongoing commitment to support efforts in rebuilding Gaza, clearing debris, and facilitating medical evacuations.
