Qatar Airways and Tourism Sector Projected for Notable Growth

Doha: The Peninsula newspaper reports that the State of Qatar's aviation and tourism sectors are set to see significant growth by the end of the year, driven by the expansion of Qatar Airways and increasing regional travel demand. Qatar Airways' expanding route network and strategic partnerships play a pivotal role in this growth, as the airline continues to add new destinations and enhance its services, solidifying its status as a leader in the competitive Middle Eastern flight market.

According to Qatar News Agency, the airline's dedication to providing exceptional service and connectivity has attracted millions of passengers, bolstering the country's aviation industry and elevating Qatar's global standing. The Peninsula highlighted that Qatar's aviation industry saw positive momentum in July 2025, with preliminary statistics from the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority (QCAA) indicating an upward trend in aircraft movements, passenger traffic, and cargo volumes compared to the same month last year.

The tourism sector in Qatar has also shown strong growth during the first half of 2025, welcoming over 2.6 million international visitors between January and June, marking a 3% increase from the same period last year. The sector contributed QR55 billion to Qatar's GDP in 2024, accounting for an estimated 8% of the total economy, reflecting a 14% increase from 2023. This progress indicates a clear trajectory towards Qatar's Tourism Strategy 2030, which aims to raise the sector's GDP contribution to 10-12%.

The Peninsula concluded that Qatar's aviation sector is on a path of steady and sustainable growth, indicating a balanced and resilient market rather than rapid expansion.
