New York: A supplementary agreement to the basic agreement between the State of Qatar and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) was signed at the premises of Qatar Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York. The agreement was signed by HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations, Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani, and HE Executive Director of UNICEF, Catherine Russell.
According to Qatar News Agency, HE Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani emphasized the State of Qatar’s dedication to supporting international efforts to protect children and promote their rights. She highlighted that the partnership with UNICEF is an integral component of Qatar’s endeavors to achieve sustainable development.
Her Excellency the Executive Director of UNICEF expressed appreciation for Qatar’s role in backing initiatives aimed at improving the lives of children globally. She noted that this agreement will aid in strengthening UNICEF’s work and achieving significant outcomes for children in need.
The signing of this supplementary agreement marks a new phase of collaboration between Qatar and UNICEF, underscoring Qatar’s prominent role in advocating for humanitarian and development issues worldwide.
