Doha:The Qatari men's beach volleyball teams have made significant progress in the 20th Asian Games currently underway in Japan, with both Team A and Team B advancing to the Round of 16.
According to Qatar News Agency, Qatar's Team A, featuring Cherif Younousse and Ahmed Tijan, advanced after securing the top spot in Group A. They achieved this by defeating Oman's Hood Al Jalboubi and Mazen Al Hashmi with identical scores of 21-19 in two matches. Younousse and Tijan are the reigning champions, having won gold in the previous two editions of the games.
Team B, made up of Mousa Al Khair and Mohamed Ihab, also secured a place in the Round of 16 by finishing second in Group D, just behind Thailand A.
The other teams that have qualified for the Round of 16 include China A and Vietnam from Group B, Indonesia A and Vietnam B from Group C, Kazakhstan and Indonesia B from Group E, Iran and Thailand B from Group F, China B and Japan B from Group G, and Japan A and Iran B from Group H.
