Doha:The Qatari men's volleyball team began their campaign at the 20th Asian Games, Aichi-Nagoya 2026, with a 3-1 victory against Hong Kong. The event, which is taking place in Japan, will run until October 4.
According to Qatar News Agency, Qatar clinched the win with set scores of 25-20, 24-26, 25-20, and 25-21. This victory earned Qatar its first three points in Pool C, which also features India and Vietnam. Conversely, Hong Kong ended the opening round without any points.
Qatar is scheduled to play its second Pool C match against Vietnam on Monday, followed by a match against India on Tuesday to conclude the group stage.
In other matches on Sunday, Iran achieved a 3-0 win over Kyrgyzstan in Pool B, with set scores of 25-11, 25-16, and 25-20. Pakistan defeated Kazakhstan 3-1 in Pool A, while South Korea triumphed over the Philippines 3-0 in Pool D.
The men's volleyball tournament at the Asian Games features sixteen teams, divided into four pools of four teams each. Qatar is part of Pool C along with India, Vietnam, and Hong Kong, China.
