Qatar Civil Aviation Authority Engages in Strategic Discussions at LACAC Executive Committee Meeting

Guatemala city: Qatar Civil Aviation Authority (QCAA) participated in the inaugural meeting of the Executive Committee of the Latin American Civil Aviation Commission (LACAC) in Guatemala City, Guatemala. Acting President of QCAA, Mohamed Faleh Al Hajri, led Qatar's delegation to the meeting.

According to Qatar News Agency, Al Hajri emphasized the growing strategic partnership between QCAA and LACAC, which has been strengthening since a memorandum of cooperation was signed in 2022. This partnership includes capacity-building initiatives such as scholarships and training programs. He also reiterated Qatar's commitment to expanding support for the professional development of aviation experts across Latin America, with plans to introduce new training courses tailored to regional priorities.

Al Hajri highlighted Qatar's collaboration with 21 LACAC member states through open skies air service agreements, which enhance air connectivity and provide opportunities for strengthened communication, economic growth, and social and cultural exchanges. The meeting participants acknowledged Qatar's significant role and efforts in advancing the civil aviation sector and international cooperation.

The meeting also focused on fostering bilateral cooperation in preparation for the upcoming General Assembly of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). Participants stressed the importance of coordinated efforts to ensure the event's success.

On the sidelines of the event, Al Hajri conducted bilateral meetings with Azucena Zelaya, President of LACAC, and officials from the Central American Corporation for Air Navigation Services (COCESNA). He also met with senior officials from the civil aviation authorities of Brazil, Paraguay, Chile, Peru, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Cuba, and Uruguay. These discussions aimed to explore avenues for enhancing cooperation and advancing strategic partnerships in civil aviation.
