Qatar Engages in GCC Legal Collaboration at Kuwait Meeting

Kuwait city: The State of Qatar participated in the 17th meeting of Their Excellencies Attorneys General and Prosecutors of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, which was held in Kuwait. The delegation from Qatar was led by HE Attorney General Dr. Issa bin Saad Al Jafali Al Nuaimi.

According to Qatar News Agency, the meeting focused on several agenda items, including the development of a policy to enhance cooperation between public prosecution and attorney general offices. Discussions also covered a draft guideline for dealing with the elderly during the investigation phase and explored potential collaborations with legal and judicial institutes and centers across GCC countries.

The meeting also addressed the secondment of public prosecution members to work in attorney general and public prosecution offices within the GCC and shared experiences from member states' public prosecution and attorney general offices. Qatar's Public Prosecution Office presented its Criminal Studies Institute, highlighting its inception, competencies, objectives, and role in training public prosecution members and qualifying assistant prosecutors for judicial work. The institute also plays a vital role in developing national cadres across various government sectors through specialized training programs.

The event concluded with the recognition of outstanding contributions within the GCC's public prosecution and attorney general offices through the Hamad Al Othman Award. Sheikh Saud bin Faleh Al-Thani, Public Prosecutor at Qatar's Public Prosecution Office, was among those honored.
