Doha: The State of Qatar, through its Ministry of Social Development and Family, took part in the first extraordinary meeting of the Committee of Undersecretaries of Ministries of Social Affairs and Development within the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. This meeting, convened via video conference, focused on critical social development topics.
According to Qatar News Agency, the meeting was represented by HE Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Development and Family, Khalifa bin Issa Al-Kubaisi. Discussions centered on the activation and implementation mechanisms of the "Unified Package of Benefits for Persons with Disabilities in the GCC Countries." This initiative aligns with resolutions from the eleventh meeting of the Committee of Ministers of Social Affairs and Development held in Kuwait last September.
The committee also evaluated proposed joint facilities and services aimed at enhancing the quality of life for individuals with disabilities. These services cover four primary areas: identification services and procedural facilitations; mobility and infrastructure services; healthcare and airport facilities; and community and digital accessibility services.
Qatar's participation underscores its commitment to fostering sustainable social development policies. The Ministry of Social Development and Family's engagement in this meeting highlights its dedication to integrating persons with disabilities into society, supporting them as active contributors and essential partners in the development process, consistent with Qatar National Vision 2030.
