Abu Dhabi:The State of Qatar participated in the 15th UN Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice, taking place in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
According to Qatar News Agency, the event saw the participation of HE Minister of Justice and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Ibrahim bin Ali Al Mohannadi, who represented Qatar. He reaffirmed Qatar's dedication to international cooperation in combating transnational organized crime, upholding the rule of law, and supporting global initiatives aimed at enhancing security, stability, and sustainable development in the region.
His Excellency highlighted Qatar's efforts in modernizing national legislation to ensure swift justice and emphasized the significance of the "Doha Declaration" from the 13th Congress hosted by Qatar in 2015. This declaration, in collaboration with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, launched initiatives against corruption and terrorism, benefiting 190 countries.
On the sidelines of the congress, a memorandum of understanding on legal cooperation was signed between HE Minister of Justice and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Ibrahim bin Ali Al Mohannadi and HE Minister of Justice of the United Arab Emirates Abdullah bin Sultan bin Awad Al Nuaimi. This agreement aims to facilitate the exchange of expertise, enhance legal and judicial cooperation, and contribute to improved institutional performance and judicial services in both countries.
Additionally, HE Minister Ibrahim bin Ali Al Mohannadi met with HE Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia Srbuhi Galyan to discuss and explore ways to enhance legal cooperation between the two nations.
