Qatar Foundation for Social Work Engages in Strategic Dialogues with UN Officials


Doha: CEO of the Qatar Foundation for Social Work Rashid Mohammed Al Hamda Al Naimi engaged in a series of bilateral meetings with United Nations officials, including CEO of Save the Children Inger Ashing, Executive Director of UN Women Dr. Sima Bahous, and Deputy Executive Secretary for Programmes at ESCWA Dr. Mehrinaz El Awady. The discussions revolved around collaboration in child protection, skill development for social and psychological professionals, enhancement of women’s roles, and their empowerment in social development.



According to Qatar News Agency, the meetings also examined opportunities for the Foundation’s involvement in training programs, joint research initiatives, and coordination in future UN events. These engagements underscore the Foundation’s dedication to fostering international partnerships to advance social justice and inclusive development.



In conjunction with the Second World Summit for Social Development, the Foundation organized a dialogue session titled ‘Fulfilling rights: inclusive access to education and health through targeted reforms,’ in partnership with the Creators Union of Arab and UCLG. Held at the Qatar National Convention Centre, the session was moderated by Dr. Mohammad Telfat and featured discussions on equitable access to education and healthcare for persons with disabilities.



Maryam Saif Al Suwaidi, Executive Director of the Shafallah Center, highlighted initiatives combining vocational training, early intervention, and assistive technology to enhance the capabilities and quality of life for persons with disabilities. She also introduced a therapeutic program for Cerebral Palsy using the “Space Suit” for motor rehabilitation and discussed the development of interactive learning environments.



Mishal Abdullah Al Nuaimi, Executive Director of the Al Noor Center for the Blind, elaborated on the center’s advanced rehabilitation and education programs for people with visual impairments. He emphasized the integration of modern technologies and the importance of investing in assistive technology to empower blind individuals and enhance their societal participation.



The session concluded with a reaffirmation of the need for inclusive education and healthcare as vital components for achieving social justice and integrating people with disabilities into society. Participants highlighted Qatar’s leadership in providing integrated systems that address diverse needs and align with sustainable human development goals.
