Doha: Qatar Foundation (QF) welcomed more than 800 newly enrolled students at Education City universities during the "Marhaba" event, an annual welcome ceremony organized to mark the start of the new academic year. The event took place at Multaqa, the Education City Student Center, and aimed to introduce the students to the various resources and opportunities available to them, enhancing their academic, social, and personal development.
According to Qatar News Agency, Dr. Francisco Marmolejo, President of Higher Education and Education Advisor at QF, emphasized the unique community that the new students are joining. He highlighted that Education City is not just a collection of international universities but a comprehensive system where students interact with educators and peers. This system, he noted, significantly enhances learning opportunities and fosters both knowledge and cultural exchange.
Marmolejo further stated that the diversity within Education City is a key strength, offering students in various fields such as engineering, arts, medicine, policy-making, entrepreneurship, and more, the chance to collaborate and exchange ideas. This, he said, contributes to a unique educational experience.
He encouraged students to play an active role within the QF community and beyond, stressing that success extends beyond academics to include personal growth, leadership development, mental health preservation, and societal contribution. Marmolejo also urged students to think creatively and leverage the opportunities available both inside and outside the classroom, encouraging them to build relationships that will shape their future and positively impact society.
QF's higher education system, which has been in operation for over three decades, has graduated more than 12,000 students from Education City universities. This system allows students to study within an integrated educational environment that includes several world-class universities.
