Qatar Highlights Web Summit Qatar 2026 in Washington

Washington: The Government Communications Office (GCO) organized a joint promotional event hosted by the Embassy of the State of Qatar in Washington, DC, to promote the third edition of Web Summit Qatar, scheduled to take place in Doha from February 1-4, 2026.

According to Qatar News Agency, the event was attended by representatives from US companies in the technology, investment, and entrepreneurship sectors, alongside a select group of entrepreneurs and startups. This initiative is part of the ‘Runway to Web Summit Qatar’ program and aims to strengthen the summit’s international presence and highlight partnership opportunities, expanding Qatar’s network of leading US technology and innovation partners.

During a panel session, Soud Ahmed Al Boinin, Director of Studies and Strategic Planning at the GCO, emphasized that Web Summit Qatar has rapidly become a leading platform for showcasing regional innovation and connecting global ecosystems. He highlighted the participation of more than 18 trade delegations and representatives from over 120 countries last year, reflecting the summit’s growing global reach.

Al Boinin noted the strong momentum among international partners, with Germany as a standout example, having doubled its participation from 100 to 200 startups for the upcoming summit. He highlighted Qatar’s growing talent pool and its leading international universities as key strengths, which provide the right skill sets for startups.

He cited Snoonu as a major success that emerged from the summit, Qatar’s first unicorn, which achieved significant growth following its participation in the Web Summit. Al Boinin emphasized that the summit has become a genuine platform for global partnerships, bringing together governments, investors, and innovators to turn ideas into real opportunities.

Hamad Al Nuaimi, Manager of Strategy at Invest Qatar, stated that Web Summit Qatar is the leading regional tech event in the Middle East, offering American companies opportunities to pitch ideas, showcase products, and connect with the local market. He highlighted Qatar’s dynamic startup ecosystem, which offers advisory services, mentorship, financing products, and access to a wide range of opportunities.

Adam Cannon, Country Manager for Web Summit Qatar, noted that the event is a global gathering of about 30,000 people, providing opportunities for US and North American companies to explore the MENA and GCC regions. He pointed out the rising interest from North American companies, driven by Qatar’s strong talent pool and presence of major global firms.

Cannon emphasized that the impact of Web Summit extends beyond the event itself, noting significant ecosystem transformation in Qatar, similar to the 26x increase seen in Portugal since 2016. The event underscores Qatar’s commitment to building a thriving digital economy and consolidating its status as a destination for innovation, as preparations continue for Web Summit Qatar 2026.
