Doha:Qatar's Ministry of Municipality is set to host the sixth Recycling Towards Sustainability Conference and Exhibition from October 6-7. The event will bring together government bodies, private-sector organizations, and both local and international experts in the fields of waste management and the circular economy.

According to Qatar News Agency, ministry officials announced during a press conference on Wednesday the conference's objectives and the logistical and media arrangements for the event. Abdullah Ahmed Al Karani, Assistant Undersecretary for Public Services and chairman of the organizing committee, emphasized that the conference aims to advance Qatar's sustainability efforts and develop a more integrated and efficient waste-management system.

This year's conference will focus on transforming knowledge into practical applications and solutions. It aims to foster innovation and investment while expanding partnerships to convert waste into economic and environmental value. Hamad Jassim Al Bahr, Director of the Waste Recycling and Treatment Department, highlighted the conference's focus on developments in waste collection, sorting, and treatment, as well as the recycling of construction and demolition waste.

The role of technology in enhancing operational efficiency and the involvement of the private sector as a vital partner in industries based on recycled materials were underscored. Furthermore, the ministry plans to introduce new sustainability initiatives to promote environmental awareness among children through interactive activities, including a dedicated program featuring workshops for school students.

The ministry's media campaign for the conference will commence 10 days before the event and continue throughout and after the conference to highlight its outcomes and recommendations. A fully equipped media center and studio will be available at the venue to support journalists and broadcasters with live coverage and reporting facilities.
