Qatari Businessmen and Hong Kong Discuss Investment Partnership Opportunities

Hong Kong:The Qatari Businessmen Association (QBA) engaged in discussions with Paul Chan, the Financial Secretary of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, to explore avenues for enhancing economic and investment cooperation between Qatar's private sector and Hong Kong. The focus was on forming new partnerships in key sectors such as financial services, healthcare, logistics, technology, innovation, and trade.

According to Qatar News Agency, Paul Chan highlighted the importance of the meeting with QBA members, emphasizing its role in showcasing available opportunities and expanding business relations. The discussion aimed to encourage mutual investments and facilitate connections between Qatari companies and Hong Kong counterparts, thereby diversifying economic relations through long-term partnerships.

The talks included enhancing communication between financial institutions and developing partnerships in asset management, investment, and finance. Additionally, they explored how Hong Kong's expertise and financial networks could support the expansion of Qatari companies into Asian markets.

QBA Board Member HE Sheikh Hamad bin Faisal Al-Thani pointed out the considerable opportunities for cooperation among banks, financial institutions, asset management firms, and investment funds in both Qatar and Hong Kong. He expressed a forward-looking vision for creating practical, long-term partnerships in financial services, investment, healthcare, logistics, and technology.

The QBA plans to visit Hong Kong to explore new investment and financing instruments that can mobilize capital towards productive sectors. This visit will also identify opportunities for Asian companies and financial institutions to expand their presence in the region through Qatar.

QBA Board Member HE Sheikh Nawaf Nasser Bin Khaled Al-Thani underscored the Association's interest in sectors contributing to Qatar National Vision 2030, particularly healthcare. He emphasized the potential of Hong Kong as a gateway for Qatari investors into China and Asian markets, while also highlighting Qatar's attractiveness for Asian companies seeking Gulf market access.

Both sides concluded by stressing the importance of continued coordination and organizing direct engagements among companies, investors, and institutions in priority sectors to convert identified opportunities into tangible partnerships and projects.
