Doha: Qatar's Ambassador to Germany, Abdullah bin Ibrahim Al Hamar, has emphasized that the participation of German companies in the Qatar Web Summit 2025 signifies a growing partnership between Qatar and Germany, particularly in the fields of technology and innovation.
According to Qatar News Agency, the ambassador stated that approximately 100 German companies focusing on technology, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity are partaking in the summit. He noted the interest of German investors in exploring opportunities within Qatar, which demonstrates the increasing confidence in Qatar's market and strengthens Doha's reputation as a digital innovation hub in the region.
The ambassador highlighted the collaboration between the German Association for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises and the Arab Cultural House "The Diwan," formed during the summit. He stressed that such initiatives are crucial for fostering cultural and technological dialogue, thereby creating a sustainable environment that promotes innovation and entrepreneurship between the two nations.
Agreements signed during the summit aim at facilitating knowledge exchange, developing advanced technical solutions, and supporting Qatari startups through specialized training programs. The ambassador expressed optimism that these initiatives would bolster joint projects, enhance the entrepreneurial ecosystem, and solidify Qatar's status as a leading regional center for advanced technology.
Nizar Maarouf, Regional Director of the German Association for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises' GCC Office, announced the launch of the German Pavilion for Startups, marking a significant milestone with over 100 German participants. He highlighted that this initiative reflects Germany's successful strategy to deepen its engagement in the Qatari market.
Maarouf also discussed a multi-year agreement under a memorandum of understanding between Qatar's Government Communication Office and the German Association for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises in the GCC countries, which secures Germany's official presence at the Qatar Web Summit until 2028 through the German Pavilion for Startups.
The Regional Director expressed appreciation to key Qatari officials, including HE Minister of Commerce and Industry Sheikh Faisal bin Thani bin Faisal Al-Thani and HE Director of the Government Communications Office Sheikh Jassim bin Mansour bin Jabor Al-Thani, for their pivotal roles in advancing this initiative. He acknowledged that this effort has opened new investment avenues for German investors and enhanced opportunities for German startups in Qatar, underlining the mutual commitment to fostering an innovative and sustainable business environment.
Maarouf extended his gratitude to the Investment Promotion Agency Qatar (Invest Qatar) for their strategic partnership, which played a crucial role in strengthening economic ties between Qatar and Germany.
He also thanked HE Ambassador Abdullah bin Ibrahim Al Hamar, the diplomatic staff at the Qatari embassy, and the management of the Arab Cultural House "The Diwan" for their ongoing support and the facilities provided for collaborative activities and workshops.
The German Association for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises established its regional office in Doha in 2022, aiming to enhance trade and technological partnerships and support the integration of German companies into the Qatari market.
