Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) announced today the launch of a charity campaign aimed at mobilizing support to build “Hayat? Sehir” City for the orphaned students who were affected by the earthquake in Turkiye and other orphans around the world, in Istanbul, Turkiye, in order to meet their basic needs and provide an environment full of care and attention that guarantees their human dignity.

In a press conference, Acting Secretary-General of QRCS, Faisal Mohamed Al Emadi said the project comes in the aftermath of the earthquakes that hit Syria and Turkey in February, and the ongoing suffering of millions of affected people, especially orphaned children who lost their parents and relatives during the disaster.

He invited all capable people from the generous Qatari people to stand in solidarity with the victims of this humanitarian tragedy, to help them recover from the physical and psychological trauma they went through, and to provide a safe and suitable educational environment for their personal and social growth.

He pointed out that QRCS will implement this project in cooperation with relevant organizations and authorities in Turkiye.

Head of the “Hayat? Sehir” City Project Dr. Ayedh Dabsan Al Qahtani, said: “This project seeks to build an integrated city that accommodates about 1200 orphans affected by the earthquake and other orphans around the world and is expected to be built within 24 months”.

On his part, editor-in-chief of Al-Sharq Newspaper and media partner of the campaign, Jaber Salem Al Harmi expressed his delight in being part of this charitable project and this integrated city for orphans, appreciating QRCS for their support and assistance in reaching out to the hands of goodness to those in need, wherever they may be.
