Russia Announces Capture of New Town in Eastern Ukraine

Doha: The Russian forces have taken over Shandryholove town in Donetsk Oblast, eastern Ukraine, and eliminated over 220 Ukrainian troops in the area, the Russian Ministry of Defense said on Monday. It added that the forces captured three tanks, two armored combat vehicles, and destroyed three electronic warfare (EW) stations, one counter-battery radar station, and five ammunition depots.

According to Qatar News Agency, since the commencement of hostilities on Feb. 24, 2022, Russian and Ukrainian forces have exchanged near-daily claims of advances or of repelling attacks by the other. These claims remain unverified by independent sources due to ongoing combat and operational conditions.
