Moscow: Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) said Monday it had prevented an attempt by Ukraine’s military intelligence to hijack a Russian Mi-8MTPR-1 electronic warfare helicopter.
According to Qatar News Agency, the FSB released a statement explaining that the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry had orchestrated an operation to recruit a Russian military pilot to fly the aircraft into Ukrainian territory. This attempt was successfully thwarted by Russian counterintelligence efforts.
The FSB disclosed that, during the operation, their officers were able to uncover and identify the positions of Ukrainian air defense systems and military troops.
