The Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (SCIA) has affirmed that politics is alien to the roles of religious platforms and houses of worship, denouncing the keenness to turn some mosques into arenas for political chants and slogans during prayers.

The SCIA stressed the need to preserve the sanctity of mosques and religious pulpits, by devoting them to worshipping Allah the Almighty, and not deviating them from their established legitimate purposes, or exploiting them to perform other roles that they have nothing to do with, which would lead to encroachment upon their sanctity and the role they are meant to play.

In a statement, the SCIA affirmed that religious platforms and mosques play an important and fundamental role in the lives of Muslims, who use them to spread knowledge and virtue, promote goodness, righteousness and cooperation, preserve their thought and behaviour, consolidate their identity and unity, and express their conscience.

The SCIA called upon scholars, orators, and all faithful people to play their fundamental role in protecting pulpits and worship against bad exploitation that could harms them, distorts their image, and diverts them from their authentic role.
