Second Meeting of the Saudi-Kuwaiti Coordination Council Issues Announcement of Outcomes

Kuwait, In an embodiment of the deep historical ties binding the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the State of Kuwait and their people, and in light of the high directives of the leaderships of the two countries-the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud; His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; Kuwait's Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah; and Kuwait's Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah-to reinforce the solid relations between the two countries and the ongoing cooperation in all fields and at all levels to meet the aspirations and ambitions of the leaderships and people of the two countries, and in line with the lofty goals of establishing the Saudi-Kuwaiti Coordination Council, represented in strengthening cooperation, cohesion, and integration between the two countries through their subcommittees in various political, security, economic, investment, cultu ral, media, tourism, social, and other fields. The second meeting of the Saudi-Kuwaiti Coordination Council was held in Kuwait City today, Monday, June 3, 2024, under the joint chairmanship of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Kuwait, Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya, and with the participation of the heads of the subcommittees of the council and the heads of the General Secretariat of the Saudi-Kuwaiti Coordination Council. The two sides underlined the deep relations binding both countries and the keenness of their leaderships on enhancing these ties in various fields. They highlighted the need for exploring avenues of developing their relations and achieving objectives that align with the aspirations of both countries' leaderships and people. They expressed their satisfaction with the positive and constructive outcomes achieved in this regard, emphasizing the importance of cooperation in political fields and joint coordination on bilateral, regional, and international levels. Moreover, they stressed the need for coordinating positions in a way that serves the two sides' joint interests and brings security and stability to both countries, their peoples, and the peoples in the region. They underlined the need to enhance existing cooperation and coordinate efforts in combating terrorism and extremism and countering their funding, and exchange expertise in this field to ensure the security of both countries. They also commended the completion of the bilateral networking between the interior ministries in both nations. The two sides praised the Saudi-Kuwaiti cooperation that resulted in the flow of capital and internal trade, enabling mutual investments between the two countries and contributing to the progress of these investments in all sectors. This includes the sectors of industry, communication, information technology, infrastructure, and real estate development. They highlighted the completion of the railway linkage and the tech nical customs connectivity between both countries, which support the goals of facilitating trade and ensuring the seamless flow of goods. They underscored the efforts made by Saudi Arabia and Kuwait to put forward a joint vision to strengthen and sustain their cooperation in the fields of culture, media, tourism, and social development. This cooperation entails registering shared historical files with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), exchanging cultural programs between the two countries, strengthening and developing relations between their prominent media institutions, and enhancing cooperation in the areas of media organization, program exchange, news production, and joint TV and radio broadcasting. They lauded the development of cooperation between the two countries in education as part of their agreement to foster the partnership between their universities, provide scholarships, and facilitate the admission of students to universities in both countries. They expressed eagerness to enhance relations between Saudi Arabia and Kuwait and develop their cooperation in the fields of health, tourism, and sports. The two sides expressed their satisfaction with the outcomes of the subcommittee meetings, which led to the approval of 50 initiatives aimed at strengthening cooperation in various fields and advancing bilateral relations. They emphasized the importance of continuing to support and develop the work of the Council and its subcommittees, as well as maintaining constant coordination to enhance their effectiveness as institutional tools for cooperation. The parties also pledged to monitor the implementation of the subcommittees' recommendations and initiatives outlined in their meeting minutes. At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides expressed gratitude for the efforts of the General Secretariat of the Council in facilitating the work of the Council and its subcommittees. Furthermore, Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, expressed his hope for Saudi Arabia to host the third Council meeting next year. The Council consists of five subcommittees: the Political, Consular, and Nationals Coordination Committee; the Military and Security Coordination Committee; the Coordination Committee in Culture, Media, Tourism, and Social Development; the Coordination Committee in Energy, Economy, Trade, and Industry; and the Coordination Committee in Investment, Environment, and Infrastructure.
