Shura Chairman highlights importance of investing in AI

Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh, Shura Council Chairman, stressed the importance of investing in AI modern technologies and applications to achieve the goals of sustainable development.

He noted that Bahrain is making great efforts to keep pace with the rapid development in the world and seeks to be a pioneer in the region in the field of AI.

This came during his opening speech at the 3rd International Conference of Data ‘Future of Everything’, held on Thursday, organized by the International Group of Artificial Intelligence (IGOAI), in partnership with Nasser Vocational Training Centre (NVTC). Participants included speakers from Spain, UK, China, Morocco, India, Lebanon and Bahrain.

Al Saleh said that the legislative branch is keen to enact modern legislation to make the legislative system updated with technological development, appreciating efforts between the legislative and executive branches to achieve common goals.

He highlighted Bahrain’s initiatives to promote and develop AI, provide a suitable work environment for scientists and innovators in this field, and support youth in the field of modern technology and data science.

Dr. Jassim Haji, Chairman of the conference and President of IGOAI Community hailed the Shura Chairman’s support in enabling women in AI, especially in the conference which exclusively included women speakers in all its three editions.

Dr. Haji announced that the CEOs of the public and private sectors will be honoured by His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS) First Deputy Chairman, General Sports Authority (GSA) Chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) President, on July 20.

The honouring ceremony will be the first of its kind in the Arab countries and the East Middle for AI and talent empowerment.
