Marrakesh: The Shura Council took part in the fourth session of the Marrakesh Economic Parliamentary Forum for the Euro-Mediterranean and Gulf Regions. The event was hosted in Marrakesh, Morocco, and saw participation from parliamentarians, officials, and experts hailing from numerous countries as well as regional and international organizations.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Shura Council was represented by HE Member Abdullah bin Nasser bin Turki Al Subaie, who also serves as Vice President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM), alongside HE Member Hamad bin Abdullah Al Mulla. The forum provided a platform to deliberate on crucial economic and developmental topics of mutual interest. Discussions revolved around worldwide challenges to economic integration and free trade, strategies to stimulate investment in artificial intelligence, enhancing employment opportunities, and addressing the effects of climate change on food security. Additional subjects related to development, investment, and economic cooperation were also on the agenda.
During the forum, HE Al Subaie delivered a speech highlighting Qatar's commitment to adopting sound financial and economic policies characterized by transparency, governance, and diversification of income sources. He noted that these strategies have enabled Qatar to maintain a robust economy capable of facing global changes and challenges. Al Subaie underscored the importance of strengthening cooperation and collective action to tackle the growing economic and security challenges the world is encountering. Furthermore, he addressed issues related to energy security, food security, the knowledge economy, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity, emphasizing the need for developing legislative frameworks and policies that support sustainable development and enhance the capacity to confront global economic challenges.
