Accra:According to Qatar News Agency, the Shura Council's General Secretariat has completed preparations for the opening of the second ordinary session of its second legislative term, marking the Council's 55th annual session. HE Secretary-General Nayef bin Mohammed Al Mahmoud announced that these preparations reflect a forward-looking vision, leveraging qualified national personnel to enhance institutional performance.
Al Mahmoud shared the General Secretariat's comprehensive efforts to ensure a smooth opening session, which will be followed by the first working session under internal regulations. These efforts include testing technical and logistical systems and coordinating with relevant entities to ensure the readiness of facilities, systems, and personnel.
The preparations extend beyond the opening session, covering the entire legislative term. They include organizing weekly sessions, committee meetings, and engagements with parliamentary delegations in Qatar and abroad. Qualified personnel are integral to supporting the Council's various bodies in fulfilling their responsibilities.
The General Secretariat's role, as described by Al Mahmoud, combines routine administrative work with specialized legal functions, reflecting the Shura Council's legislative authority status. Emphasis is placed on carrying out responsibilities within a clear institutional framework to ensure coordination among administrative, legal, and parliamentary functions.
The Secretariat's 2025-2030 strategy, launched during the previous legislative session, aims to establish institutional priorities and a roadmap for future operations. It focuses on strengthening governance, improving operational efficiency through digital transformation, supporting legislative functions, expanding partnerships, developing a future-ready workforce, and enhancing community engagement. The strategy includes 46 projects over five years.
Al Mahmoud reported progress in the strategy's first year, highlighting improvements in governance, operational efficiency through digitalization, and infrastructure development. Most of the Council's operations have transitioned to electronic formats, aided by systems like "Injaz" for project management and the "Integrated System" for job responsibilities and service access.
He noted that digital transformation extended to the Sessions and Committees Department, significantly reducing paper usage by digitizing agendas, minutes, and committee meetings. This shift has resulted in financial savings and environmental benefits, supporting the General Secretariat's strategic goals and Qatar National Vision 2030.
