Mogadishu: The Somali army took control of an area in the Lower Shabelle region, southeast of the country, from Al-Shabaab militants.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Somali National News Agency (SONNA) reported that the national army forces, in cooperation with the national intelligence and security agency, succeeded in regaining control of the Marka area in the Lower Shabelle region following a planned operation carried out by the forces.
In recent months, the Somali army managed to recapture several areas in the central and southern parts of the country from the control of the Al-Shabaab movement, against which the country has been fighting for years.
