Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) Unveils New Media Identity to Reflect National Development

Damascus: The Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) has launched its new mission under the slogan "SANA... A Turning Point," as part of a comprehensive government plan to develop national media and enhance its presence in Syria's new era.

According to Qatar News Agency, Director General of the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) Ziad Al Mahameed stated that SANA has introduced a new identity at both visual and editorial levels. This update includes changes in editorial policies and media discourse, along with a new visual identity designed to keep pace with digital advancements.

Al Mahameed noted that this visual identity will be rolled out on social media platforms, utilizing modern formats for images, videos, and other interactive services. The agency is also investing in developing its human resources, training more than 200 journalists over the past two months, with four additional courses currently underway.

Artificial intelligence has been incorporated into SANA's operations at the editorial and digital media levels, serving as a tool to enhance efficiency rather than replace journalists. Furthermore, two new directorates have been established within the agency: one focused on digital media and the other on correspondents, which includes 166 domestic correspondents across various governorates and 24 external correspondents in several countries.

Al Mahameed emphasized SANA's commitment to openness and cooperation with Arab and international news agencies, having already sent memoranda of cooperation to several agencies, including QNA.

Syrian Minister of Information Dr. Hamza Al Mustafa highlighted during the agency's relaunch ceremony that SANA is reclaiming its role as a professional national platform. He remarked that the new phase is a step towards building public confidence in a transparent and reliable official source that accurately reflects Syria's image both domestically and internationally.
