Doha: The Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs on Monday announced the launch of the testing phase for the resident children participating in the 30th Sheikh Jassim bin Muhammad bin Thani Noble Qur'an competition to memorize one part from the last five sections of the Holy Qur'an.
According to Qatar News Agency, the event, organized by Awqaf, draws broader participation from citizens and residents from both genders. The ministry highlighted that 3,080 male and female contenders from over 40 nationalities worldwide had been registered.
The Imam Muhammad ibn Abd Al Wahhab Mosque hosts tests for male citizens and residents starting at 3:30 pm after Asr prayer, Awqaf highlighted, stating that tests for residents will continue until March 8, while the tests for male citizens will be held next week, on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.
The tests for female residents began on Sunday, March 2, at the Women's Activity Center in Al Wa'ab, at 7:15 p.m., and will continue until Thursday, March 6, with the tests for Qatari women taking place on Saturday and Sunday, March 8 and 9.
The committee emphasized that all female test committees are comprised of skilled female judges proficient in the memorization of the Holy Qur'an, while the male test committees are spearheaded by a contingent of Qatari youth.
Overall, the competition is an invaluable opportunity to spur children from both genders to memorize and properly recite the Holy Qur'an, thereby contributing to instilling Islamic precepts in their hearts.
