Training for Ramadan Neshan Shooting Championship Begins at Lusail

Lusail: The training for the Neshan Shooting Championship kicked off Sunday at the Lusail Shooting Range. The tournament is held under the patronage of HE President of the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC), Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani, in collaboration with the Qatar Shooting and Archery Association (QSAA).

According to Qatar News Agency, the tournament, running until the 19th of Ramadan, brings together over 250 male and female shooters from the young categories, notably citizens and residents, alongside a substantial number of national team shooters. A total prize fund of QR 500,000 has been allocated for this tournament, which features numerous events in pistol, rifle, shotgun, and archery to explore the young Qatari talent in this kind of sport.

The event aims to hone their skills to further internalize expertise, something that will ultimately augment national teams to be ready for participation in upcoming tournaments abroad. The official training will continue until the 10th of Ramadan ahead of the official competitions that are set to kick off on the 11th of Ramadan.

Official training for the men's and women's skeet and trap contests will begin on March 13, with the skeet event starting the following day. The competition will conclude on March 15, while trap events will take place on March 16 and 17, winding up on March 18. Amateur competitions will follow a points system across four events, with the air pistol slated for the 11th and 12th of Ramadan, air rifle on the 13th and 14th, archery on the 15th and 16th, and shotgun on the 17th and 18th.

Ultimately, the tournament will conclude on the 19th of Ramadan with a ceremony to crown the winners. The organizing committee announced the launch of the Neshan Shooting Championship specifically for the elderly whose ages exceed 65, on March 12 with the participation of over 40 shooters in air guns that includes pistols and rifles.
