Doha Debates Hosts Workshop for Students in Argentina

Doha: The Doha Debates, a Qatar Foundation platform for global dialogue, in partnership with the Years of Culture initiative, hosted a workshop bringing together twenty students from Qatar, Chile, and Argentina as part of the Qatar-Chile and Argentina 2025 Year of Culture. The event was held in preparation for the main gathering scheduled for today in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

According to Qatar News Agency, the workshop focused on topics such as mediation, dialogue, and the concept of consultation in Islamic civilization, highlighting Qatar's leading role in using mediation as a strategic tool on the international stage.

In this context, Advisor to the Years of Culture initiative for Latin American Affairs Mohammed bin Jassim Al Kuwari stressed the importance of open dialogue and constructive discussion, noting that dialogue lies at the heart of cultural exchange. He added that by drawing inspiration from traditions such as the majlis and emphasizing shared values among societies, young people can be given new opportunities to learn from each other and build bridges of understanding that extend beyond the workshop itself.

The workshop concluded with debates inspired by the majlis tradition on which the unique Doha Debates model is based. This format allows both participants and the audience to search for common ground among multiple viewpoints, moving away from conventional debate methods.

Through such activities, Doha Debates continues to empower young voices from across the globe, engaging them in constructive conversations on issues that affect all societies. To date, it has involved youth from more than 230 countries and territories in shaping a brighter, more connected future.
