Doha: The Qatar Handball Association (QHA) conducted on Thursday the draw for the Qatar Handball Cup and the Amir Handball Cup for the current sports season 2024-2025.
According to Qatar News Agency, the draw for the Qatar Cup, in which the first four teams from the general league participate, resulted in two matches: Al Duhail, the second in the league, will face Al Rayyan, the third in the league. Meanwhile, Al Ahli is set to compete against Al Arabi in the semi-finals on Saturday, May 17. The final showdown between the two winners is scheduled for Monday, May 19.
The Amir Cup draw placed Al Khor against Qatar SC and Al Wakrah against Al Shamal in the playoffs on Saturday. In the Quarter Final on Thursday, Al Sadd is set to compete against Al Duhail, and Al Gharafa will take on the winner of the Al Khor-Qatar SC match. Additionally, Al Ahli will play against Al Arabi, while Al Rayyan is to face the winner of the Al Wakrah vs. Al Shamal game.
The Amir’s Cup semifinals are planned for Sunday, May 25, with the tournament set to conclude with the final on Tuesday, May 27. The draw ceremony was overseen by Hamad Misfer Al Nuaimi, a member of the board of directors of the Qatar Handball Association, alongside club representatives.
Last season, Al Arabi claimed the Qatar Cup title, while Al Duhail emerged victorious in the Amir Cup.
