Egyptian Experts Laud Decisive Messages in HH the Amir’s UN Address

New york: The speech of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani before the general debate of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly constitutes a pivotal landmark in the course of joint Arab action. It carried clear and decisive messages to the international community, with an emphasis on Arab unity and solidarity as the foundation for confronting challenges and achieving security and stability in the region, Egyptian diplomats and analysts told Qatar News Agency (QNA).

According to Qatar News Agency, the experts stressed that the speech came at an extremely sensitive timing, transparently reflecting the volume of challenges facing the Middle East region, in the wake of the Israeli aggression against Doha. They highlighted the Arab solidarity embodied in the aftermath of this targeting, with the Qatar-Egypt close coordination reflecting the spirit of Arab unity in confronting security and political challenges facing the region.

The speech was anticipated to be decisive, articulating the rapidly unfolding circumstances and developments in the region and condemning the Israeli aggression that targeted Qatar on Sept. 9, as well as the ongoing Israeli war against the Palestinian people, said Ambassador Raouf Saad, former Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs of Egypt.

Saad noted the speech's focus on the Israeli aggression against Qatar and its repercussions for regional security, describing the attack as not merely against Qatar alone. He emphasized Qatar's confrontation with a rogue occupying power and the mediation role undertaken by Qatar and Egypt to forge a ceasefire in Gaza, highlighted by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi at the Conference on the Two-State Solution.

Motaz Ahmedin Khalil, former Representative of Egypt to the UN in New York, added that the address underscored the Israeli aggression against Doha, which violated Qatari sovereignty despite Qatar's neutral mediation role to secure a ceasefire in Gaza. Khalil emphasized that the speech linked these events to the main theme of the general debate, marking eighty years since the UN's founding.

Dr. Hassan Salama, Professor of Political Science at Cairo University, stressed that the speech came within the context of Arab postures against aggression on Arab sovereignty and highlighted the significant Arab support evident at the recent Arab-Islamic summit in Doha.

Maj. Gen. Dr. Nasr Salem, former head of the Egyptian Army's reconnaissance service, described the speech as strong, decisive, and resolute, addressing numerous issues with clarity and courage while highlighting Qatar's role in the Palestinian cause.

Dr. Nevin Wahdan, Professor of Political Science at Misr University for Science and Technology, commended HH the Amir's condemnation of the attack on Doha as a terrorist act and emphasized Qatar's commitment to supporting affected nations through humanitarian aid and development projects.

Political analyst Dr. Ayman Samir noted the global interest in HH the Amir's address, highlighting his warnings about Israel's hostile behavior and the importance of an immediate ceasefire and the establishment of a Palestinian state.

Concluding, Samir emphasized that the speech outlined a roadmap for the region's future, advocating for peace and stability through diplomacy and cooperation among Arab states.
