Israel Persists in Ceasefire Violations in Southern Lebanon

Doha: Israel on Sunday continued to violate the ceasefire deal declared on Nov. 21, 2024, by launching a new offensive in southern Lebanon. Lebanese field sources reported that the Israeli forces fired several bursts of gunfire near the town of Yaroun, while Lebanese citizens began gathering at the entries of the western neighborhoods of Mays Al-Jabal and Houla.

According to Qatar News Agency, the 60-day deadline for the withdrawal of Israeli military forces from villages and towns along the southern border of Lebanon expired on Jan. 26, 2025, although the Lebanese government agreed to extend the deadline until Feb. 18. However, since the expiration of the deadline, Lebanese people have been subjected to gunfire by the Israeli occupation forces while attempting to return to their villages, resulting in numerous casualties.
