Paris: The "Action Summit on Artificial Intelligence" began in Paris with broad participation from heads of state, government leaders, international organizations, major companies in the AI field, and civil society representatives worldwide. This two-day international summit aims to promote an ambitious French and European strategy in artificial intelligence, emphasizing European expertise and fostering collaboration with international partners.
According to Qatar News Agency, the summit seeks to enhance cooperation among international actors in AI and brings together leading experts, global company leaders, including those from the U.S. and China, as well as European and emerging companies, businessmen, and investors. Anne Bouverot, French President Emmanuel Macron's special envoy for the AI Summit, highlighted the goal of positioning France and Europe prominently on the global AI map and urged overcoming fears associated with AI to exploit its benefits.
The summit focuses on five main themes: serving the public interest with AI, ensuring safe and trustworthy AI technology, the future of work, innovation and culture, and global AI governance. The opening session, titled "Putting Artificial Intelligence at Work," featured various international entities.
In addition to the main sessions, meetings are planned to address topics like "Building Artificial Intelligence Systems in Africa," "AI for Education and Intergenerational Dialogue," and "AI and National Security." The first day will conclude with a speech by French President Emmanuel Macron.
On Tuesday, a plenary session involving heads of state, government leaders, and international figures will discuss key joint measures needed for artificial intelligence. The summit will also host hundreds of events for civil society and active companies in the AI sector.
France, along with EU countries, aims to adopt a global AI framework amidst rising competition between the United States and China, while strengthening its position and influence in the future direction of AI technology.
