Cairo: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi today hosted Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar. The meeting was attended by several high-ranking officials from both nations, including Egypt's Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Foreign Affairs Minister Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Finance Minister Mr. Ahmed Kouchouk, and General Intelligence Service Director Minister Hassan Rashad. Representing Qatar were Minister of Finance Mr. Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari and Dr. Mohammed Al Khulaifi, Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
According to African Press Organization, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, the Spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency, stated that President El-Sisi extended a warm welcome to the Qatari delegation. He asked Sheikh Mohammed to convey his greetings to Qatari Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. The President praised the advancement of bilateral relations and expressed a desire to further enhance cooperation in political, trade, and investment sectors. This initiative aims to build on the outcomes from the Egyptian-Qatari Joint Higher Committee discussions.
President El-Sisi emphasized the importance of increasing Qatari investments in Egypt, assuring the readiness of the Egyptian state to provide the necessary support and facilities. Sheikh Mohammed reciprocated by conveying the Amir's greetings and shared Qatar's enthusiasm for strengthening ties with Egypt. He acknowledged the close relations between the two nations and Qatar's interest in furthering these connections.
The dialogue also covered regional developments, where President El-Sisi highlighted the necessity of containing the ongoing escalation in the region. He noted the potential repercussions for regional stability and its economic and trade impacts. The President reiterated Egypt's commitment to supporting the security of Qatar and other Arab nations, rejecting any attempts that might compromise their sovereignty.
In addressing the situation in the Gaza Strip, both parties discussed the cooperation required to implement the agreement aimed at ending the conflict. They stressed the importance of all parties adhering to commitments outlined in former US President Donald Trump's plan to end the war. This includes facilitating humanitarian aid delivery and initiating the early recovery and reconstruction process. Egypt and Qatar agreed to continue their coordination efforts to ensure regional peace and stability.
