Doha: In a significant move to enhance its tourism sector, Qatar has launched the Qatar Calendar 2025-2026, which marks a notable advancement in organizing and unifying national events. The calendar was unveiled at a special event organized by Visit Qatar, with the attendance of Qatar Tourism leaders and senior state officials.
According to Qatar News Agency, Al-Arab newspaper emphasized that the calendar is not just a timetable but a strategic platform reflecting Qatar's tourism development. It aims to unify efforts among various public and private entities, enabling residents and visitors worldwide to plan their attendance at events in advance. This initiative is expected to boost economic activity and support vital sectors such as hospitality and retail, while reinforcing Qatar's status as a global destination for cultural, sporting, and artistic diversity.
The calendar is distinguished by its comprehensive approach, highlighting the Qatari experience with supporting services like smart transportation, fan zones, and integrated tourism packages. It also includes broad promotion through printed materials, digital platforms, and smart applications. Al-Arab affirmed that this calendar sends a clear message of Qatar's ambition to cement its position as a capital of creativity, diversity, and hospitality, serving as a bridge for global communication and embodying a national vision of integration and excellence.
On a related note, Al-Watan newspaper reported that Qatar is set to witness significant sports momentum in the coming months by hosting three major championships. The FIFA U-17 World Cup Qatar 2025 will kick off from November 3 to 27, followed by the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025 from December 1 to 18. Additionally, Qatar will host the FIFA Intercontinental Cup in December 2025, with matches scheduled for December 10, 13, and 17. This tournament aims to crown the world's best football club and will be held in Doha for the second consecutive time.
Al-Watan also highlighted Qatar's achievement in winning the bid to host the 2029 FIVB Men's Volleyball World Championship, further affirming the country's excellence in organizing major international tournaments, as demonstrated by the acclaimed FIFA World Cup 2022.
Meanwhile, The Peninsula newspaper covered the launch of the Global Autism Advocacy Coalition (GAAC) by Qatar Foundation, WHO, UNICEF, and Autism during the UN General Assembly's 80th session. This initiative provides an opportunity for a unified worldwide approach to supporting individuals with autism and their families. Qatar, a regional pioneer in autism support, launched its first national autism strategy in 2017, laying the groundwork for inclusive policies and services.
HH Chairperson of Qatar Foundation, Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, urged governments and stakeholders to move beyond awareness and embrace collective, action-driven solutions to make autism a global priority. With autism being a key health priority, Qatar Foundation launched its Autism Strategy 2025-2035, aligning with national efforts to amplify autism action across its ecosystem and community over the next decade.
