Doha: Qatar Basketball Federation (QBF) has announced the dates and schedule for the first phase of the age group competitions for the new season (2025/2026), all of which will be held at the federation's hall.
According to Qatar News Agency, the competitions will kick off on September 13 with the Under-14 category, featuring four matches on the opening day: Al Shamal vs. Al Sadd, Al Rayyan vs. Al Wakrah, Qatar vs. Al Arabi, and Al Ahli vs. Al Khor. The first phase will conclude on November 29.
The Under-16 matches will begin on September 14, also with four matches: Al Gharafa vs. Al Khor, Al Rayyan vs. Al Wakrah, followed by Qatar vs. Al Shamal, and Al Ahli vs. Al Arabi. This phase will conclude on November 30.
Meanwhile, the Under-19 category will start on September 15, with matches including Al Gharafa vs. Al Shamal, Al Rayyan vs. Al Wakrah, Al Arabi vs. Al Ahli, and Qatar vs. Al Khor. The first phase of this category will conclude on December 1.
The Qatar Basketball Federation revealed that the second phase will begin in January, emphasizing adherence to technical regulations regarding the number of registered players and participation across different categories. The international basketball regulations for age groups will also be applied to ensure the highest levels of organization and competitive fairness.
QBF Secretary-General Saadon Sabah Al Kuwari, who also is the director of national teams, explained that the announcement of the new season's schedule is part of a comprehensive strategy aimed at developing Qatari talent and creating an ideal competitive environment for various age groups. He stressed that these tournaments are a fundamental pillar in building the future of the sport, and that the federation places great importance on them by providing the best technical and organizational conditions.
