Doha: Qatar University (QU) will launch its 12th Cultural Village on April 21, which will run until April 24. Representing 27 countries, the Cultural Village will offer theatrical and folkloric performances, as well as food and fashion booths, showcasing those countries’ unique cultures and arts.

According to Qatar News Agency, QU held a press conference Monday attended by Director of Student Activities at QU Dr. Abdullah Hamed Al Mulla and Head of Campus events and programs at QU and Deputy Chair of the Organizing Committee Mira Abdulrahman Al Kuwari, along with several committee members.

The Director of Student Activities at QU told QNA that the event will not be limited to the QU community alone, rather it will be open to the general public, in keeping with the Cultural Village’s goal of raising cultural awareness and understanding. Al Mulla added that the event is a true embodiment of values such as diversity, coexistence, and mutual respect among different cultures, being a vibrant space where students from various nationalities and backgrounds can express their identities, present their heritage, and share their cultures with their peers and the broader university community.

He added that QU believes that the university experience extends beyond the lecture room to encompass extracurricular activities that shape students’ personalities, refine their skills, and open before them new horizons of understanding and openness to the world and to being global citizens.

For her part, the Head of Campus events and programs at QU, Mira Abdulrahman Al Kuwari, told QNA that in light of the success of past editions and the traction they gained, QU is eager to hold the Cultural Village annually. Al Kuwari highlighted that this is not merely a highly anticipated cultural event, but also a rich human experience that reflects the university and the diversity of its student body, which plays a vital role in student development, fosters global understanding, and reinforcing values of coexistence, tolerance, and belonging.

She noted that the event will dedicate April 21 and 22 for female students and April 23 and 24 for male students.
