economic suffering faced by the people through positive initiatives.

If Washington was concerned for the Cuban people, it would immediately have lifted the blockade on them, allowed freedom of navigation to Cuban ports and the arrival of oil derivatives, and lifted the financial embargo on Cuban banks to import the materials needed by the Cuban people, the Ministry said.

The foreign ministry reiterated Syria’s stand by the Republic of Cuba in facing the challenges it faces, and its condemnation of the sanctions and the inhumane American blockade on Cuba and other countries, calling on the international community to shoulder its responsibilities by working to lift this blockade and provide the Cuban people with their basic needs and enable them to achieve the sustainable development they need.

Dahhak: Western claims about keenness on Syria require them to change their misleading polices, support Syrian State efforts

New York, Syria’s permanent representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Qusay Al-Dahhak, said that the claims of some Western countries about keenness on Syria and its people, security and stability of the region require them to change their approaches that have been overtaken by events, and to abandon policies of misinformation and distortion of facts, and to follow the approach of diplomacy and dialogue, and to support the efforts of the Syrian State aimed to improve the humanitarian and living conditions of its people, and to re-establish the rule of law over its entire territory.

‘In this month of every year, Western permanent members of the Council resort to issuing and repeating misleading statements that promote their distorted narrative of what my country has witnessed over the past years of a terrorist war,’ Al-Dahhak said during a Security Council session Thursday on the political and humanitarian situation in Syria.

He indicated that those statements come to cover up the acts of aggression,
occupation, and the economic blockade imposed by those countries with the aim of destabilizing Syria’s security and stability and undermining its development achievements.

Al-Dahhak reiterated Syria’s stance on the content of its letters addressed to the Secretary-General of the United Nations and President of the Security Council, demanding immediate action to stop the hysterical Israeli attacks and prevent their recurrence, and warning the Israeli occupation authorities of the repercussions of their criminal actions that threaten regional and international peace and security.

Al-Dahhak renewed Syria’s demand for an immediate, complete and unconditional lifting of the unilateral coercive measures imposed on Syria and the policies of blockade and collective punishment of peoples followed by successive American administrations and the European Union in violation of the principles of the UN Charter, most notably the principle of sovereignty and equality among states.

The Syrian diplomat went on to say that M
inister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Fayssal Mikdad, stressed to the United Nations Special Envoy for Syria, Geir Pedersen, in Damascus a few days ago, Syria’s keenness on cooperating with him, and Syria’s commitment to the Syrian-Syrian national dialogue under Syrian leadership and ownership without external interference.
