Army air defenses repel an Israeli aggression on several sites in southern region


Damascus, The army air defenses repelled on Sunday an Israeli aerial act of aggression that targeted several sites in the southern region.

‘At about 00:42 a.m. on Sunday, the Israeli enemy carried out an aerial act of aggression from the direction of the occupied Syrian Golan, targeting a number of sites in the southern region’, a military source told SANA in a statement.

The statement added that the air defenses intercepted the missiles and downed some of them.

The aggression injured a soldier and caused material damages.

A delegation from the Syrian People’s Assembly keeps up with Russian presidential election at Donetsk


Moscow, The presidential election in Russia entered its third and final day on Sunday as the voter turnout has stood at 60% at 10:00 a.m. Moscow time, while the online voter turnout has stood at 90% so far, according to live update from the Russian Central Election Commission.

The international observers who keep up with the election process confirm that it is taking place under normal conditions and comply with all standards of transparency and democracy.

A delegation from the Syrian People’s Assembly visited a number of polling stations in Donetsk city to keep up the Russian Presidential election there ,and confirmed that it is taking place normally.

Head of the Syrian-Russian Parliamentary Friendship Committee, MP. Bassem Sudan said that the election is underway in these polling stations with complete freedom and democracy.

He expressed his regret that the West is continuing its attempts to distort the Russian election, and considered that such Western attempts are evidence of the success of the electo
ral process.

In turn, MP. Izzat Arabi Katbi, said that Russia is proving to the whole world that it practices democracy in its highest and truest form, contrary to what the West claims.

Syrian, Venezuelan talks on strengthening relations in higher education and scientific research


Damascus, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Bassam Ibrahim, met today the Ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in Damascus, Jose Gregorio Biomorgi Muzattiz and the accompanying delegation.

The two sides reviewed the ways to develop ties of scientific and cultural cooperation, through agreements for the exchange of scholarships, exchange of visits by professors and students, and carrying out joint scientific and cultural activities.

Ibrahim highlighted the importance of concluding academic agreements in the fields of higher education and scientific research, and establishing scientific and research relations between universities and institutions in both countries.

For his part, the ambassador expressed interest in renewing the scientific cooperation agreement and working for a scientific agreement project between the University of Damascus and the Venezuelan Research Institute in the fields of health, agriculture and industry.

Venezuela and Syria are united by solid re
lations throughout history and joint agreements in all fields, he added.

Interior Minister, Indian Ambassador to Syria discuss cooperation


Damascus, Interior Minister, Mohammad Khaled al-Rahmoun discussed Sunday with Indian Ambassador to Syria Irshad Ahmed means to boost joint cooperation relations between Syria and India in all fields, especially countering terrorism.

Al-Rahmoun underlined the ministry’s keenness to look after the interests of the Indian community in Damascus and provide all facilities to them.

The minister thanked India for the support provided to Syria in international forums, its rejection of foreign interference in its internal affairs, and its standing by the Syrian people.

The ambassador, in turn, highlighted the importance of boosting cooperation between the two friendly countries in all fields, expressing his country’s pride in the historical relations with Syria.

More than 90 Palestinians killed in Gaza in last 24 hours


Occupied Jerusalem, Palestinian Health Ministry said that the Israeli occupation perpetrated over the past 24 hours, nine massacres in the strip leaving 92 martyrs and 130 wounded.

Number of victims of the ongoing occupation aggression for the 163rd day on Gaza, has risen to 31,645 martyrs and 73,676 wounded, the Ministry said in a statement Sunday.

The statement added that a number of victims are still under the rubble and on the roads due to preventing the occupation the arrival of ambulance and Civil Defense staff to them.

Mikdad,Pederson discuss existing cooperation with UN and improving humanitarian situation in Syria


Damascus, Foreign and Expatriates Minister,Faysal Mikdad discussed Sunday with the UN Special Envoy to Syria, Geir Pedersen, the existing cooperation between Syria and the UN and the facilities provided by the Syrian government to the UN offices in Syria, including the Office of the Special Envoy.

Minister Mikdad referred to the Syrian government’s efforts to improve the humanitarian situation in Syria and achieve recovery.

Mikdad pointed out the catastrophic and inhumane effects on the Syrian people resulting from the illegal unilateral coercive measures imposed by the United States and its Western allies.

The Minister stressed the need for the United Nations to assume its responsibilities and cease violations of Syrian sovereignty resulting from repeated Israeli aggressions against Syrian territory and the illegal presence of American and Turkish forces.

For his part, Pedersen viewed the contacts he recently made to carry out his mission.

He stressed the need for all relevant parties to respect the sov
ereignty and integrity and unity of the territory and people of Syria.

The UN envoy underlined the importance of all countries implementing their obligations under the United Nations Charter to restore security and stability throughout the Syrian Arab Republic.

An art exhibition for children in Qamishli


Hasaka, ‘Baraem Al Salam’ School in Qamishli held Sunday an art exhibition included paintings, handicrafts, and models.

Chairman of the Karama Area Committee for Baath Vanguards, Abdul Halim Youssef al-Rammu told SANA reporter that the aim of this exhibition is to discover new talents, develop them, and support them in the future, pointing out that these work allow the student to express through them the messages and opinions he wants to convey about various national and social events in artistic ways.

The headmistress of the school said that the children’s works relied on the recycling of materials found in their homes, as the family and the school cooperate in teaching the child to take care of the environment.

Iraqi President affirms his country’s support for the security and stability of Syria


Baghdad, President of Iraq, Abdul Latif Rashid discussed Sunday with the Syrian Ambassador in Baghdad, Sattam Jadaan al-Dandah, ways to consolidate cooperation between the two brotherly countries.

‘President Rashid stressed during the meeting the importance of consolidating relations between the two countries and expanding joint cooperation to serve the mutual interests of the two brotherly peoples, according to the Press Office of the Presidency of the Republic of Iraq.

Iraqi President, reaffirmed Baghdad’s support for security, stability and peace in Syria in a way that achieves the well-being and prosperity of the Syrian people.

We support the Palestinian cause and it is necessary to stop the current Israeli aggression against Gaza and achieve the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and the establishment of their independent State, stated president.

In turn, the Syrian ambassador said that during the meeting, they discussed the ways to advance bilateral relations towards broader persp
ectives in all political and economic fields.

al-Dandah expressed Syria’s desire to activate joint bilateral action to achieve the maximum interests of the two countries and their people.
