Iraqi Kurdistan, Iran Stress Importance of Strengthening Bilateral Relations

President of the Iraqi Kurdistan Region Nechirvan Barzani has stressed the region’s determination to strengthen bilateral relations with Iran, especially in the security field.

This came in a joint press conference Thursday with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, who is currently visiting Erbil. Barzani said that the Kurdistan Region is ready to strengthen relations with Iran at all levels, stressing that the region’s land will not pose a threat to Iran in any way.

For his part, the Iranian President expressed his happiness to visit Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, noting that his country attaches great importance to its relations with Iraq and the Kurdistan Region in order to work together in all fields and remove problems and obstacles.

The official price of Omani crude oil, for delivery in November, today reached USD 71.92, up by USD 1.07 compared to yesterday’s price (Wednesday) which was USD 70.85.

The monthly average price of Omani crude oil for delivery in September reached USD 83.85 per barrel, an increase of USD 1.035 compared to the price for delivery in August.

AFC Approves Palestinian Proposal to Support Humanitarian Relief in Gaza


The Asian Football Confederation’s (AFC) Social Responsibility Committee approved, during its meeting held Wednesday via videoconference, the Palestinian Football Association’s proposal to establish a fully equipped mobile field hospital with a capacity of 32 beds, with the aim of improving access to medical services and enhancing humanitarian relief efforts in the Gaza Strip.

The committee’s approval comes within the framework of emphasizing the AFC’s commitment to supporting the Palestinian Federation, as the hospital will play a pivotal role in coordinating and distributing resources among humanitarian relief agencies once operational.

The hospital will enhance rapid response and immediate care capabilities in emergency situations, help combat infection and contain diseases, and enable the long-term goal of establishing a mobile hospital for sports medicine.

AFC to Hold Annual Awards Ceremony in Seoul


The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) announced today that the next two editions of the AFC Annual Awards 2023 and the 2024 Presidents and General Secretaries Conference of National and Regional Associations will be held in the capital of South Korea, Seoul.

The two events will be held in the same city for the first time in succession, with the 2023 AFC Annual Awards Ceremony scheduled for Oct. 29, followed by the 2024 Presidents and Secretaries General Conference of National and Regional Associations, which will run for three days starting Oct. 30 to Nov. 1, 2024.

Qatar League: Al Rayyan and Al Shahaniya Coaches Confirm the Difficulty of the Match, Look Forward to Winning


Doha: Al Rayyan coach Poya Asbaghi and Al Shahania coach Alvaro Mejia spoke to the media ahead of their 2024-2025 season Ooredoo Stars League Week 4 match, scheduled for tomorrow.

Asbaghi said in the pre-match press conference: “looking at the three matches they played in the league, you will find that they are a team that is difficult to defeat. They did not create many opportunities, but they defend well and only conceded a goal against Al Wakrah. They defend very well, so we have to be good tactically.

Al Rayyan Loses to Indonesian Jakarta Bhayankara in Asian Volleyball Championship Quarterfinals


Qatari Al Rayyan team lost to Indonesian Jakarta Bhayangkara (0/3) in their match held Thursday in the quarterfinals of the 24th Asian Volleyball Clubs Championship, which is currently hosted by the Iranian city of Yazd and will continue until September 15.

The results of the match were (25-18, 25-17, 25-23) in favor of Jakarta Bhayankara.

Al Rayyan team had qualified for the quarterfinals after finishing third in Group A.

Qatar to Face Jordan Friday in Asian Junior Handball Championship


The Qatari national junior handball team will meet its Jordanian counterpart on Friday, in a match to determine the 7th and 8th places in the 10th Asian Junior Handball Championship currently being held in Jordan and will continue until Saturday, and which qualifies for the World Championship in Slovenia in 2025.

The Qatari team look forward to achieving a moral victory at the end of its participation in the championship after losing chance to advance to the semi-finals and obtain one of the qualifying cards for the World Championship.

The Qatari team finished 4th in Group 2 in the main round after losing all three of its matches, losing the first match to Japan 20/39, the second match to Kuwait 28/32, and the third match to Bahrain 27/33.

The Qatari team qualified for the main round after finishing second in Group 3 in the preliminary round, where it defeated the UAE team in the first match 31/21, while losing the second match to the Saudi team 26/43.

The top five teams in the Asian Championship advance
to the World Championship in Slovenia 2025.

The Qatari junior handball team won the Asian Championship title twice in 2010 in Abu Dhabi and 2012 in Manama, and came in second place three times in 2006 in Tehran, 2008 in Oman, and 2014 in Oman as well.

Interior Minister reviews Southern Governorate’s programmes for addressing citizens’ needs


Manama, General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, the Minister of Interior, received Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali Al Khalifa, the Southern Governor.

The minister was briefed on the initiatives and programmes launched by the governorate to address citizens’ needs and monitor project implementation in coordination with relevant authorities, fostering a collaborative approach. The governor highlighted the governorate’s swift response and engagement with citizens’ demands, based on a community partnership framework.

Shaikh Rashid expressed his appreciation for the Southern Governorate’s efforts in addressing citizens’ needs and wished them continued success in serving the nation.

They also covered various topics related to the Southern Governorate and its programmes for serving citizens.
