NIHR president meets US DCM


Manama, Ali Ahmed Al Derazi, President of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), received David Brownstein, Deputy Chief of Mission at the US Embassy in Bahrain.

Al Derazi highlighted the strong and continuously growing relations between the two countries across various sectors. They discussed topics of mutual interest and explored opportunities for cooperation and the exchange of expertise.

Brownstein expressed his appreciation for the institution’s constructive role in promoting and protecting human rights in Bahrain.

HM King receives EU Council President


Manama, His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa received Charles Michel, the President of the European Council, as part of Michel’s visit to the region.

His Majesty discussed the strong relationship between Bahrain and the European Union and the mutual commitment to continue to advance them to benefit both sides.

The discussions also touched on the upcoming first Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and European Union summit, scheduled for October in Brussels. His Majesty wished the summit success to further strengthen the partnership between the two blocs and enhance collaboration to serve mutual interests and support peace, security, and development both regionally and globally.

Furthermore, His Majesty and the President of the European Council addressed key regional and international developments, particularly in the Middle East.

HM the King emphasised the importance of securing a ceasefire in Gaza and ensuring humanitarian aid reaches the affected population to alleviate their suffering. He reiterated Ba
hrain’s support for a lasting and comprehensive peace based on a two-state solution, which would enhance stability and security in the region. His Majesty reaffirmed Bahrain’s commitment to backing initiatives that promote peace and stability on both regional and global levels.

On his part, Michel commended Bahrain’s role in fostering strong relations with the European Union. He also underscored the EU’s keenness to enhance cooperation with Bahrain across all domains and praised the Kingdom’s efforts in supporting peace and stability in the region.

Oman’s Information Minister receives Bahrain’s ambassador in Muscat


Muscat, Dr. Abdullah bin Nasser Al Harrasi, Oman’s Minister of Information, received Dr. Juma bin Ahmed Al Kaabi, Bahraini Ambassador to Oman.

The minister welcomed the ambassador, praising the strong ties between the two countries, particularly in media.

Al Kaabi thanked Oman’s Ministry of Information for its cooperation in covering embassy programmes, highlighting the importance of enhancing collaboration in all domains for the benefit of both nations.

They also discussed ways to strengthen media cooperation and follow up on the recommendations of the Bahrain-Oman Joint Media Committee.

Chairman of Board of Trustees at third “Political Development” board meeting


Manama, Dr. Ali bin Mohammed Al Rumaihi, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Bahrain Institute for Political Development, chaired the third meeting of the Board of Trustees held today.

On the occasion of International Democracy Day, Dr. Al Rumaihi extended his congratulations to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

Dr. Al Rumaihi affirmed the institute’s commitment to advancing democracy in Bahrain in line with national laws and regulations.

The board then discussed the meeting’s agenda, emphasising the importance of continued coordination with the legislative authority to implement the scheduled programmes and activities, aligning with current developments as the third session of the sixth legislative term approaches.

The board reviewed the programmes and studies completed in the third quarter of this year, including workshops, training courses, and lectures for various segments of society, and expresse
d appreciation for the efforts of the executive team. They also discussed the implementation of remaining programmes for the fourth quarter, stressing the need for their completion to further strengthen Bahrain’s political and democratic work and achieve the institute’s objectives for the benefit of the nation.

He highlighted Bahrain’s role as a regional and global model for democratic work. He also referred to the public participation in the by-elections for Muharraq’s First District, coinciding with International Democracy Day, as a reaffirmation of Bahrain’s political and democratic path under the National Action Charter, Constitution, and relevant national and international commitments.

Dr. Al Rumaihi praised the progress made in enhancing democracy, political participation, and public engagement under the leadership of HM the King, with the support of the government led by HRH the Crown Prince.

Public Security wins second place in Arab human rights research competition


Cairo, The Community Affairs Department at Public Security has secured second place in the Arab security personnel human rights research competition. The competition was organised by the Arab Office for Security Awareness, Media, and Human Rights, part of the General Secretariat of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers, in cooperation with Egypt’s Ministry of Interior.

Colonel Ammar Mustafa Al Sayed, Assistant Chief of Public Security for Community Affairs, commended the support of General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, the Minister of Interior, highlighting the importance of promoting research in various fields to enhance security operations. He also acknowledged the ongoing follow up by the Chief of Public Security on the scientific contributions made by the Ministry of Interior personnel.

The Assistant Chief commended the research team’s efforts in preparing the study, which explored the role of artificial intelligence in protecting human rights, addressing the opportunities, challenges, and fu
ture prospects for integrating AI into security practices. The study presented key findings and valuable insights relevant to advancing security operations while safeguarding human rights.

HEC meets delegation from George Washington University


Manama, Dr. Diana Abdulkarim Al Jahromi, Higher Education Council (HEC) Secretary General, met with a delegation from George Washington University.

Dr. Abdulla Yusuf Al Hawaj, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ahlia University; and Dr. Mansoor Al Aali, President of Ahlia University, attended the meeting.

The Secretary-General reaffirmed the council’s dedication, under the leadership of Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma, Minister of Education and Chairman of the HEC’s Board of Trustees, to fostering partnerships between local universities and leading international institutions.

The delegation reviewed the progress of George Washington University’s Master’s programme in Engineering Management, hosted at Ahlia University, and discussed plans for its further development.

EDB announces $16.65 million in investments


Bengaluru, The Economic Development Board (EDB), with support from Team Bahrain, has attracted $16.65 million in expected investments for the establishment and expansion of three leading Indian companies in the sectors of industry, renewable energy, and ICT.

This came as part of the EDB delegation’s visit to Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Chennai to strengthen economic ties with India and attract direct investments to Bahrain, contributing to job creation.

Among these investments is KIMCO, which will expand its plant in Bahrain for the third time since announcing plans to establish a factory in 2013. The expansion aims to increase production capacity for rigid plastic packaging at the Bahrain International Investment Park and introduce fully automated production lines to meet rising demand in Bahrain’s consumer goods sector. Founded in India in 1980, KIMCO has grown its production and packaging solutions, maintaining a commitment to sustainable packaging through recycling initiatives.

Additionally, Bajaj Industri
es will develop an 11.40 MW solar project in Bahrain, having secured a 10-year contract with APM Terminals Bahrain, the operator of Khalifa Bin Salman Port. Founded in 1989 as a manufacturer of dyes and intermediates, Bajaj Industries has since diversified into solar power generation. The Bahrain project marks the company’s first international expansion in solar energy, reinforcing Bahrain’s renewable energy commitment.

Furthermore, an Indian ICT company announced the establishment of its regional headquarters in Bahrain, supporting the Kingdom’s growing capabilities in technology and artificial intelligence. This investment will contribute to Bahrain’s efforts to build a smart digital economy, powered by highly skilled and future-ready talent.

Bahrain’s thriving business environment, strategic location, and supportive government policies continue to attract significant Indian investments. The cumulative stock of Indian direct investments in Bahrain grew by 36.6%, with an average annual contribution of $102
million between 2019 and 2023, reaching a total of $1.52 billion in 2023.

Manama Bahrain All Share Index closes at 1952.36 points,1.62 points drop

Manama, Bahrain All Share Index has closed at at 1,952.36 points marking a decrease of 1.62 points below the previous closing.

This decrease was due to the fall in the Materials Sector and Real Estate Sector.

Bahrain Islamic Index has closed at 816.23 points marking a decrease of 0.71 points below the previous closing.

Results indicated that 72 equity transactions took place with a volume of 1,747,321 worth BD 842,891.

Investors traded mainly in the Materials Sector representing %67.06 of the total value of securities traded.
