HH Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad issues edicts appointing directors at REHC

His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Chairman of the Rashid Equestrian and Horse Racing Club High Committee (REHC), today issued edicts appointing the following directors at the REHC:

– Ebrahim Faisal Mohammed Al-Malki, Director of the Communications Directorate

– Maryam Mohammed Nema Mahmood, Director of the Services and Information Systems Directorate

– Aisha Ali Nasser Al-Nasser, Director of the Financial Resources Directorate

– Abdulrahman Khalifa Saad Bukhammas, Director of Studbook Directorate

HM King visits US Naval Support Facility; affirms solid bilateral strategic relations

His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, today visited the US Naval Support Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

HM the King, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, delivered a statement in which he lauded the strategic friendship relations between the two countries, and the ongoing coordination between them to safeguard security and peace across the region.

HM the King affirmed the keenness of the Kingdom of Bahrain to strengthen its relations with The United States in a way that would achieve global security and peace.

HM the King was accompanied by the Bahrain Defence Force (BDF), Commander-in Chief Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, National Security Advisor, Royal Guard Commander, Major-General His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and Royal Guard Special Force Commander, Colonel HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.

Upon arrival, HM the King, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, was welcomed by the Commander of the U.S. Naval Forces Central Command (NAVCENT) and 5th Fleet Commander Vice Admiral Charles Bradford Cooper, US Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain, Steven Bondy, and Commander of the Royal Bahrain Naval Force.

HM the King, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, was given the marine military salute, and then the national Anthem was played.

HM the King shook hands with the affiliates of the US 5th Fleet, and expressed thanks and appreciation to the NAVCENT and 5th Fleet commanders for their invitation.

HM the King, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, was briefed about military cooperation between the two countries, as well as their humanitarian operations, along with other countries, to secure the freedom of navigation and smooth maritime trade flow in the region and the world.

Foreign Minister receives Indian ambassador

Foreign Minister, Dr. Abdellatif bin Rashid Al Zayani received Indian Ambassador to Bahrain, Piyush Srivastava.

The meeting discussed strong historical ties binding the two friendly countries, which are based on mutual respect.

They reviewed ways of bolstering bilateral relations and cooperation and discussed topics of common interest.

Eid prayer open-air area inaugurated in Budaiya

Sunni Endowments Council Chairman Dr. Shaikh Rashid Al Hajeri inaugurated an Eid open-air prayer area in Budaiya, covering 2000 square meters to accommodate 2300 worshipers.

Dr. Al Hajeri praised the care of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa for places of worship, hailing the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

He said that the prayer site will serve people living in Budaiya and other neighboring areas which are witnessing urban expansion.

Interior Ministry Undersecretary receives Nepalese ambassador

Interior Ministry Undersecretary for Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs (NPRA) Shaikh Hesham bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa received Nepal’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain, Tirtha Raj Wagle.

He lauding solid relations between both countries and joint efforts to enhance bilateral cooperation.

Both sides discussed means of boosting coordination mainly regarding the nationality, passports and residence affairs services.

The meeting reviewed topics of common interest.

Finance Minister meets nominee for World Bank Group president

The Kingdom of Bahrain is committed to consolidating cooperation with the World Bank Group (WBG) which contributes to achieving sustainable development goals, says Finance and National Economy Minister Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa.

The minister noted the pivotal role of the World Bank in mitigating international challenges and fallouts and supporting global growth momentum.

The Finance and National Economy Minister made the comments as he met the nominated candidate for President of the World Bank Group (WBG) Ajay Banga.

The meeting was also attended by ministers of finance, central banks governors from the Arab Countries and the Maldives Group.

The session was held on the sidelines of the minister’s participation in the meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank in Washington.

The meeting focused on the WBG’s aspirations and priorities, as well as their pivotal role in the coming period to achieve development goals.

The importance of partnership with the private sector, as a driving engine and active development partner, was also highlighted.

Academic research highlights role of National Employment Project in promoting Bahraini competencies

Labour Minister Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan receives Master’s graduate Nadia Jawad Abdulameer who presented a copy of her dissertation.

Titled “Role of the National Employment Project in promoting Bahraini competencies during the pandemic”, the thesis highlights the positive results achieved by the National Employment Project during the pandemic period

It noted the cooperation of many relevant authorities, including the Ministry of Labor and the Labor Fund “Tamkeen”, in preparing, qualifying and selecting qualified Bahraini cadres in light of the project’s provision of benefits and incentives for job seekers and employers.

It also highlighted the positive results of the applied study, which was conducted on one of the private sector establishments, showed the impact and role of the National Employment Project on this company after it attracted and employed Bahraini competencies.

The minister commended qualitative initiatives and successful experiences to qualify and integrate job seekers in the various economic, commercial and industrial sectors in Bahrain within a package of initiatives implemented by the Ministry of Labor in cooperation with “Tamkeen”

Yemen welcomes resumption of Bahrain-Qatar diplomatic relations

Yemen welcomed the resumption of diplomatic relations between Bahrain and Qatar, which was announced following the second meeting of the Bahrain-Qatar Follow-up Committee, held at the headquarters of the GCC in Riyadh.

A Yemeni Foreign Ministry statement affirmed the importance of this positive step, SABA reported.

The statement said the decision to resume relations will contribute to consolidating joint Arab action and fulfilling regional aspirations to achieve more security, prosperity and development and address mutual challenges.

Qatar University Signs Digital Transformation Agreement with Microsoft

Qatar University signed a cooperation agreement with Microsoft Qatar on the transformation of education. The agreement aims to enhance the capabilities of students and faculty members, and to enable them with the tools and skills that support the use of the power of advanced technology to accomplish more achievements.

The agreement was signed by Vice President for Administrative and Financial Affairs of the University Dr. Khaled Al Khater and General Manager of Microsoft Qatar Lana Khalaf, during a ceremony held in the university building in the presence of a number of officials from both parties.

The agreement aims to support the digital transformation journey of Qatar University by implementing the basic pillars of the Microsoft Education Transformation Agreement framework for higher education, represented in protecting the electronic environment of the university campus, taking advantage of new technologies to provide innovative teaching and learning experiences, and adopting the use of smart technologies such as artificial intelligence and cloud computing to accelerate the achievements of scientific research, in addition to the most important pillar, which is the success of students.

QU College of Business and Economics Advances in QS World University Rankings

Qatar University (QU) announced that its College of Business and Economics has achieved a notable milestone, ranking #151-200 for Accounting and Finance in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2023.

QU said in a statement that this achievement is a testament to the outstanding quality of education that the college provides to its students.

The statement added that this recognition is a result of the hard work and dedication of QU’s high caliber faculty, staff, and students.

On this occasion, Dean of the College of Business and Economics Prof. Rana Sobh commented on this achievement saying, “We take pride in our uncompromising focus on excellence and the diversity of our faculty who come from 23 different countries.
