Economy Minister Stresses Kingdom’s Keenness to Realize Regional, International Partnerships in GCC-ASEAN Summit

Riyadh, Minister of Economy and Planning Faisal bin Fadel Al-Ibrahim stressed that hosting the Riyadh Summit between the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in the Kingdom is part of its efforts to promote dialogue, boost economic, trade and development cooperation between the two sides and share best practices and expertise in a way that reflects positively on the economies of the two blocs, as well as enhancing the regional and international presence of the GCC and achieving economic integration among member states.

In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the minister referred to the Kingdom’s keenness to develop strategic international partnerships and review development priorities in various fields in order to ensure economic diversification and create an attractive environment for the development of investment opportunities, as well as enhancing cooperation in accelerating sustainable development to achieve the desired goals and aspirations.

He also highlighted the active role of technical and specialized committees in promoting cooperation and economic participation and boosting bilateral partnerships in the fields of energy, food security, education and infrastructure in a way that contributes to increasing joint investments and enhancing trade between the two groups.
