Huawei Hosts the 9th Global Rail Summit in Berlin

BERLIN, Sept. 24, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — In parallel with InnoTrans 2022, Huawei held the 9th Huawei Global Rail Summit, themed “Driving Digitalization in Future Rail, Create New Value Together”. The summit brought together global industry leaders, ecosystem partners, and technical experts to discuss the future of the rail industry.

At the summit, Huawei launched the Future Railway Mobile Communication System (FRMCS) Solution, which aims to help build a more secure, efficient, and smarter railway mobile communications system. Mr. Wang Guoyu, COO of Huawei Aviation & Rail BU, and other guests attended the launch.

Team Qatar to take on Chile in Football Friendly

VIENNA, Austria: Qatar’s senior football team all set  to shake hands with Chile in a second international friendly in  Austrian  capital city of Vienna on Tuesday.

A group of 30 players are part of Qatar’s final preparations for more than three months, which included a training camp in Spain besides the ongoing camp in Austria.

After the friendlies, Qatar squad will briefly return home and will hold an open training session on October 2. They will return to Spain for more isolation before the World Cup starts.

Team Qatar will kick off their World Cup campaign with their first Group A match against Ecuador in tournament’s opening game on November 20 at Al Bayt Stadium.

H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed meets Executive Director of UN Women

H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, met today with Sima Bahous, Executive Director of United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women), and Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations, on the sidelines of the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

During the meeting, which was held at the Permanent Mission of the United Arab Emirates to the United Nations in New York, both sides discussed how a whole-of-society approach can drive the women’s empowerment and gender equality agenda forward.

H.H. Sheikh Abdullah welcomed Executive Director Bahous’ visit earlier this month to the UAE. Both sides discussed the UAE’s efforts in areas of women’s empowerment across all segments of society, as well as mutual cooperation efforts between UN Women and the UAE, including through the UN Women Liaison Office for the GCC in Abu Dhabi.

The two also discussed the critical role of women in conflict prevention and resolution as well as in peacebuilding. In this regard, they discussed continued cooperation through the UAE’s Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Women Peace and Security training initiative, in partnership with UN Women.

The meeting was attended by Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemy, Minister of State for International Cooperation; and Ambassador Lana Nusseibeh, Assistant Minister for Political Affairs and Permanent Representative of the UAE to the United Nations.

Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan meets Kenyan President on sidelines of UNGA 77

Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of State, met William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya, on the sidelines of the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

Sheikh Shakhboot conveyed to Ruto the greetings of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai.

The two sides affirmed their efforts to strengthen ties between the UAE and Kenya and open new horizons for cooperation in vital areas that serve both peoples. Sheikh Shakhboot and President Ruto also reviewed opportunities available for sustainable partnerships in energy, development, agriculture, transport, and the economy.

They also discussed regional and global issues of importance and coordination between the UAE and Kenya on the UN Security Council, on which both countries are serving terms as elected members.

Sheikh Shakhboot affirmed the UAE’s keenness to continue consultations with Kenya and all African member states. He also affirmed the UAE’s desire to formulate positions that support common interests, achieve stability, and establish peace, especially with regard to African files on the Council’s agenda.

UAE delegation attends fifth day of meetings on sidelines of 77th Session of UNGA

The UAE delegation attended the fifth day of high-level meetings on the sidelines of the 77th Session of the United Nations General Assembly.

Today, Khalifa Shaheen Al Marar, Minister of State, participated in a ministerial-level meeting organised by the United States with the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, and Yemen. Al Marar also met with Geir Pedersen, Special Envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General for Syria.

For his part, Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of State, met with His Majesty⁠ King Mswati III of Eswatini, and Dr. Barnaba Marial Benjamin, Minister of Presidential Affairs of South Sudan. He also held productive discussions with Cristina Duarte, United Nations Under-Secretary-General and Special Adviser to the Secretary-General on Africa, and Michael Moussa Adamo, Foreign Minister of Gabonese Republic.

In addition, Sheikh Shakhboot met with former Nigerian President Mahamadou Issoufou, Chair of the UN High Level Panel on Security and Development in the Sahel. He also participated in an event hosted by the Hedayah Centre on efforts to counter extremism and best practices on rehabilitation and reintegration.

Campus With A Conscience hosts a-week long SDG festival

The environment advocate Selangor Princess mentioned, “It is truly important, how we treat planet earth, other fellow citizens of this planet and every living being here. With the recent climate change we have been experiencing, we must be very concerned about the state of our planet.”

Younger participants enjoyed an interactive “Treasure Our Planet Trail” across the campus, learning new 17 SDG facts every step of their journey of enlightenment, ensuring the next generation will continue to carry the message of influence and action.

Daily on-stage demonstrations included soap making from used cooking oil by Pusat Wanita Berdaya, cooking demonstration of edible vegetable scraps by Professional Culinaire Association Malaysia and a creative upcycling demonstration by Maslisa Zainuddin from Sunway University.

The week-long event was an overwhelming success and a great advert for Malaysia in the global world of sustainability.
