Following Pacific Green’s successful development and sale of its 99.98 MW / 99.98 MWh Richborough Energy Park in the United Kingdom for £74m (US$93m), this strategic entry into the Australian battery energy storage market is a significant expansion for Pacific Green’s Energy Parks division.

The Project will commence construction in 2024, with the energy park anticipated to be operational in 2026.

Egypt expresses condolences to Syria for victims of terrorist attack on Military Academy

Egypt condemned in the strongest terms the terrorist attack that targeted the Homs Military Academy during a graduation ceremony for military cadets and left 89 dead and more than 270 injured.

Egypt expressed its sincere condolences and solidarity to the government and people of the brotherly country of Syria, as well as to the families of the victims , Egyptian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Friday.

The ministry reiterated its firm stance against all forms of violence, terrorism and the intimidation of civilians, calling on the international community to intensify its efforts to eradicate terrorism at its roots and dismantle its sources of support and financing.

Tanzanian Siamese Twins Hassan and Hussein Separated Following Complicated 16-hour Surgery

In implementation of the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, a surgical team of 35 specialists has succeeded in separating the Tanzanian Siamese twins, Hassan and Hussein, at King Abdullah Specialist Children’s Hospital in King Abdulaziz Medical City of Ministry of National Guard in Riyadh following a nine-stage complicated surgery that lasted for 16 hours.

Advisor at the Royal Court and Supervisor General of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief), Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Rabeeah, who led the surgical team, said that the operation comes under the directives of the Saudi leadership, becoming the 59th of the Saudi program for separating conjoined twins.

CMA Amends Instructions for Companies Announcements of Shareholding Companies Listed on Saudi Stock Exchange

The Capital Market Authority’s (CMA’s) Board approved amending the Instructions for the Announcements of Shareholding Companies Listed on the Saudi Stock Exchange (“Instructions”). The instructions will go into effect on 01/01/2024.

The amendments to the Instructions for the Companies Announcements are part of CMA’s continuous efforts to develop and facilitate the disclosure procedures for companies listed on the Saudi Stock Exchange. CMA is also keen to implement best practices related to the company’s disclosure to investors and dealers in the capital market, thus helping investors make informed investment decisions based on accurate and adequate information in accordance with the relevant statutory provisions.

Among the key amendments is the amendment of the forms for announcing the annual and preliminary financial results of insurance companies in accordance with IFRS 17 Insurance Contracts. The amended instructions also include the addition of forms for announcing a capital increase with suspension of priority rights and a form for announcing the impact of emergency events on the company’s business, in addition to a number of other instructions.

The instructions outline the main elements that should be available in all company announcements on the website of the Saudi Stock Exchange “Tadawul”.

It is anticipated that working with the amended instructions shall improve and raise the quality of listed companies’ disclosures in a way that will benefit all market participants, in addition to enhancing investor protection and raising the investor’s awareness level.

CMA issued the first version of the Instructions for Companies Announcements in 2006, and a number of updates to the instructions have taken place during the past years. All amendments to the instructions were made under the relevant statutory provisions.

Saudi Minister of Hajj and Umrah Concludes Visit to Morocco

Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Dr. Tawfiq bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, concluded his official visit to the Kingdom of Morocco as part of international communication efforts to introduce the facilities provided to pilgrims, Umrah performers and visitors coming from various parts of the world.

Dr. Al-Rabiah said that the visit came in implementation of the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister in confirmation of the keenness of the Saudi government, represented by the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah and all sectors of the system serving the pilgrims, Umrah performers and visitors to provide them with high quality and exceptional facilities and services.
