HM King issues Order appointing new Shura Council member


Manama, His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa issued Order (35) of 2024, appointing a new member to the Shura Council. The text is as follows:

Article I: Dr. Anwar Khalifa Ibrahim Al Sada shall be appointed as a member of the Shura Council, succeeding Abdulrahman Mohammed Saif Jamsheer. His term will continue until the end of the sixth legislative session.

Article II

This Order will be effective from the date of its issuance, and it shall be published in the Official Gazette.

Interior Minister discusses cooperation with Municipalities Minister


Manama, General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, the Minister of Interior, met with Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak, the Minister of Municipalities and Agriculture Affairs.

The ministers discussed areas of cooperation and coordination, as well as initiatives to develop municipal work, as a key contributor to sustainable development in Bahrain.

They also addressed various topics aimed at improving services for citizens and residents with a focus on efficiency and achievement.

HM King issues Royal Order (36)


Manama, His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa issued Royal Order (36) of 2024, appointing a deputy president and renewing the appointment of a member of the Constitutional Court.

The text is as follows:

Article 1

Hamid Habib Ahmed Hassan shall be appointed Deputy President of the Constitutional Court for a five-year term.

Article 2

The appointment of Ahmed Hamad Abdullah Al Dosari as a member of the Constitutional Court shall be renewed for a five-year term.

Article 3

This order shall take effect from September 13, 2024 and be published in the Official Gazette.

Youth Minister meets US Special Envoy for Global Youth Issues


Manama, Rawan bint Najeeb Tawfiqi, Minister of Youth Affairs, held a virtual meeting with Abby Finkenauer ,US Special Envoy for Global Youth Issues.

The minister highlighted the strong Bahraini-US relations, noting their continuous development in various areas of cooperation. She also emphasised the positive impact of recent joint youth programmes, which have further strengthened collaboration between the two countries.

Finkenauer praised the cooperation between Bahrain and the US, particularly in the youth sector, and underscored the importance of expanding this partnership through more joint initiatives and programmes.

The meeting focused on enhancing youth cooperation and discussed future plans for joint activities, exchanges of youth delegations, and participation in events held in both countries.

NHRA, SFDA sign MoU


Manama, Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Al Ansari, Chief Executive of the National Health Regulatory Authority (NHRA), and Dr. Hisham Saad Al Jadhey, CEO of Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance collaboration on the approval of pharmaceuticals and medical devices between Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.

The signing was attended by Lieutenant General Dr. Shaikh Mohamed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Health (SCH).

Dr. Al Ansari affirmed that this agreement strengthens cooperation between the two authorities, enabling Bahrain to recognise and approve pharmaceutical products and medical devices already authorised by Saudi Arabia’s SFDA.

He added that the MoU will allow for smoother regulatory processes by aligning standards for pharmaceuticals and medical devices approved by the SFDA, supporting the health sector in both countries.

The NHRA and SFDA have signed an agreement in 2019.

Health Minister receives AGU President


Manama, Dr. Jalila bint Al Sayed Jawad Hassan, Minister of Health, met with Dr. Saad bin Saud Al Fahid, President of the Arabian Gulf University (AGU).

The meeting was attended by several health sector officials and Marwan Ibrahim Obeid, a student at AGU and initiator of the Mutfanas (breather) campaign, alongside other students involved in the initiative.

The minister highlighted the importance of fostering strong partnerships and supporting initiatives that promote mental health awareness across society, underscoring their role in enhancing overall well-being.

She commended AGU’s academic and scientific programs, which empower Bahraini youth and encourage them to excel in various volunteer initiatives aimed at improving health awareness and preventive measures in the community.

The minister also praised the outcomes of the Mutfanas campaign, which focuses on supporting the mental well-being of young people. The campaign was launched as part of the Youth City 2030 project, with support from the Ministry
of Youth Affairs and AGU.

Chief of Human Rights Affairs Sector meets officials in human rights field in Netherlands


Amsterdam, Ambassador Dr. Arwa Hassan Al Sayed, the Chief of Human Rights Affairs, met with a number of officials in the Netherlands.

The meeting aimed to review Bahrain’s achievements in the field of human rights, exchanging experiences, and exploring opportunities for future cooperation between the two countries in this field.

During her visit, Ambassador Al Sayed met with Vim Gert, Ambassador for Human Rights Affairs and Josey Cortelas Teis, Director for North Africa and the Middle East.

The meeting highlighted Bahrain’s progress over the past decades in promoting human rights, including the development of advanced institutions and legislation, as well as mechanisms that ensure the protection and respect of human rights in all areas, culminating in the adoption of the National Human Rights Plan 2022 – 2026.

The meetings also included a discussion with Bia Toscher, Special Envoy for Religious Freedom, and Pieter Derk Hof, Ambassador for Women’s Affairs and Special Rapporteur on Combating Human Traffick
ing.

A roundtable was also held with diplomats in the field of human rights which discussed Bahrain’s current projects as a part of the National Human Rights Plan in collaboration with all partners.

For their part, the Dutch side expressed appreciation for the importance of these meetings and their role in highlighting the significant developments taking place in Bahrain in the field of human rights. Officials emphasised the importance of continuing the dialogue to enhance cooperation and exchange experiences between the two countries.

Fahad Abdulaziz Al Binali, Director of Partnership and Outreach at the Labor Market Regulatory Authority, and Shaikh Abdullah bin Khalid Al Khalifa from the Mission of Bahrain to Belgium, participated in the meetings.

HM King returns to Bahrain after UAE visit


Manama, His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa returned to the Kingdom from a visit to the United Arab Emirates, where he met with His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the UAE, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

The meetings focused on the strong relations and historic ties between the two countries, as well as ways to enhance cooperation and coordination.

Saudi Youth handball team qualifies for 2025 World Cup after thrilling victory over Korea


Dammam, The Saudi youth handball team qualified for the 2025 Handball World Cup, which will be hosted in Egypt, marking their third appearance in the tournament’s history.

According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the Greens’ achievement followed their dramatic 25-24 victory over Korea in today’s match, which concluded the main round of the 10th Asian Championship, which is being held in Jordan through September 14.

The Saudi team topped their group in the main round with a total of 5 points.

HM King meets HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum


Abu Dhabi, His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa met with His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Ruler of Dubai, at His Majesty’s residence in Abu Dhabi during his visit to the UAE.

The meeting involved cordial talks highlighting the strong ties between Bahrain and the UAE and the shared commitment to further strengthen them for the benefit of both nations.

They also discussed the ongoing progress in bilateral cooperation across various fields and the importance of enhancing joint efforts to support development priorities in both countries.
