Egypt welcomed the signing of the Jeddah Declaration by the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces as an important step that contributes to providing protection for Sudanese civilians, providing an opportunity for humanitarian and relief aid to arrive, preserving public facilities and utilities, and facilitating evacuations.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today, Egypt expressed its aspiration that the pledges agreed upon would be adhered to and that this step would pave the way for the parties to the conflict, with the help of regional and international mediators and partners, to reach a comprehensive and permanent ceasefire and to resume dialogue, which would contribute to ending the conflict in Sudan.
Egypt praised the efforts made by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United States of America in encouraging the Sudanese parties to participate in the talks, which stresses the importance and usefulness of concerted efforts to end the current crisis in Sudan as soon as possible.
