Lebanese people carried out a protest stand on Thursday in the center of the capital, Beirut, to demand an adjustment to public sector salaries in light of the collapse of the national currency against the dollar.
Retired military personnel, public sector retirees, and other citizens affected by the collapse of purchasing power participated in the demonstration, at a time when security forces have strengthened their measures to protect both the parliament and the Grand Serail with barbed wires, amid a large deployment of the army, security forces and riot police.
Several demonstrators carried Lebanese flags and army flags, raising banners denouncing and condemning officials for the economic, financial and living conditions that they described as suffocating and disastrous. (QNA)
