Malaysian PM Meets S. Korean Defense Minister

Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim met with South Korean Minister of Defense Lee Jong-sup.

The meeting discussed ways to strengthen Malaysia’s bilateral cooperation with South Korea in the defense and arms industry.

During the meeting, Malaysia’s Prime Minister expressed hope that the defense cooperation between the two countries would be further developed.

Moreover, the South Korean Minister expressed Seoul’s willingness to strengthen defense cooperation with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and asked for Malaysia’s support for South Korea’s bid to host the 2030 World Expo in the southeastern city of Busan.

Malaysia earlier has signed a contract with South Korea for the import of 18 FA-50 light attack jets.
