Brussels – Together – The European Council affirmed, today, Thursday, its commitment to working with its partners to reach an immediate ceasefire and secure the arrival of aid to the Gaza Strip.

In its final statement at the conclusion of its two-day meetings in Brussels, the European Council stressed the European Union’s full commitment to contributing to stopping the escalation in the Middle East region and achieving security there.

He reiterated the importance of implementing Security Council Resolution No. (2728) regarding the ceasefire in Gaza, stressing at the same time the European Union’s firm commitment to achieving lasting and sustainable peace on the basis of the two-state solution.

On March 25, the UN Security Council adopted Resolution No. 2728, which calls for an immediate ceasefire during the month of Ramadan, respected by all parties, leading to a ‘permanent and sustainable ceasefire,’ with the support of 14 members and the United States of America abstaining from voting.
